Who's feeling MOUTHY?
Dearest readers,
You know the Science Gallery that's replacing the old Mcdonald's? Well YOU could be a part of it! Check out the message from the organisers of the Science Gallery below:
Science Gallery London are on the lookout for jawdropping ideas to develop and include within our next season: MOUTHY. Our forthcoming season of events, performances, installations and workshops launches in July and runs until the end of November 2016.
Inspired by the work of the King’s College Dental Institute and the universal appeal of the mouth, Science Gallery London seeks to collide the science and the art of the mouth to ignite creativity and discovery in our next season: MOUTHY.
The season will explore our oral cavity from many different perspectives: the mouth is a key portal to everyday basic functions such as breathing or eating, but it is also a channel for our unique identity and a platform for self-expression.
We’re interested everything from the salivating mouth and the key role of spit in facilitating speech, taste and protecting teeth, who the bacterial residents of our mouths are, the sensational nature of our mouths, the evolution of the mouth and its development, how our mouths make us physically, socially and culturally distinctive, and what mouths of the future may look like.
Ideas should connect with the Science Gallery’s core audience of 15-25 year olds, encourage audience participation as much as possible, and surprise people. Collaborations between people from different disciplines is very much encouraged. We believe that the most interesting things happen when people from different backgrounds come together to create something new.
MOUTHY will be taking place in various King’s locations on Guys Campus. This season is sure to leave you gobsmacked! Keep in touch with us @scigallerylon on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Science Gallery London connects art, science and health to drive innovation in the heart of the city.
The gallery will open in Autumn 2017 on the Guy’s Campus.
The MOUTHY season open call is now live until 13 March and welcomes submissions and ideas from everyone. If you have a great idea please submit these online on our open call platform: https://opencall.sciencegallery.com/mouthy
