Dearest readers,

I realise that many weeks have already passed and we're practically half way through this term (for us poor souls who started in mid-August), but there are still plenty of events to look forward to! Get out your diaries people, and save these dates...

When? Tuesday 27th October

It's the Pulp Crawl. Enough said, right?

Time to get the creative juices flowing like snakebite from a pitcher - the word is (drumroll please...) SALUD! We're back to London Bridge and the usual haunts for this year's crawl, ending in our much beloved Guy's Bar. A must-do for dentists every year, it promises a night to let your hair down and go wild beneath the safety of an awesome costume.

When? Sunday 22nd November

The Diwali Show needs no introduction – every year the cast and committee pull off a spectacular show which is hard to believe is not professional! It's an unmissable event with a colourful, vibrant and buzzing atmosphere, and a great afterparty to match.

Don't just take my word for it; here's what Ajay, an ambassador for the show, has to say: “It`s the most multicultural, fun, bustling and exciting charity shows in the country. I would hugely encourage you to attend the events, be part of the fun and most importantly help raise money for our chosen charities.”

Last year's spooktacular pumpkin carvings!

When? Thursday 29th October

Not your usual pub quiz, PaedSoc has put a twist on the fun and games so you can get your Halloween on a couple of days early. For just £1 entry, there'll be competitive pumpkin carving, face painting, and incredible prizes from Konditor & Cook, Nandos and Neal's Yard Remedies. All money raised at the event will go to the Eden's Trust charity, which is a fantastic charity that helps give support to people who have lost children. Come along to support a really worthwhile cause and have a great night while you're at it!

Aca-awesome

When? Friday 30th October

If you want to see a group of guys singing their hearts out to you, then I'd recommend this. Not to mention the fact that they'll be singing in perfect harmony, and putting on a fantastic show. Oh and they just got 5 stars from the Edinburgh Fringe, so they're pretty good.

Get your tickets fast before they sell out!

5. DentSoc Sport Nights

When? tbc

Who needs summer for a sports day? DentSoc will be adding to the success of the football tournament last year to create a super chilled evening full of sports and fun. So rustly up a team of comrades and let the competitive sportsman in you burst out onto the pitch. Make sure you keep an eye out for the date!

When? Every Saturday

This is probably the best gastronomical experience you can have in an abandoned Shoreditch carpark. There is a huge variety of food and drink stalls, so expect to have to circulate a few times before being able to make up your mind! And when you've managed to nab a table, you can settle down with your burger/burrito/churros/cakes/beer/cocktails and let the chatter of happy hipsters swaddle you.

7. Museum Lates

When? Last Wednesday & Friday of every month

This is a really classy affair, a night when you can forget that you're a broke student and sashay around priceless old artefacts with a glass of red in your hand. Museums taking part in the Lates include the V&A (Friday), Natural History Museum (Friday), and Science Museum (Wednesday), which are all definitely worth exploring after dark.

When? Sunday 1st Nov (Newham), Saturday 7th Nov (Blackheath), Thursday 5th Nov (Southwark)

Of course there will be a multitude of firework displays going on all around London, but these are our student-friendly recommendations (i.e. they're FREE) which put on a brilliant show. You should set aside the whole evening for celebrations, starting off with a bang (pun intended) at one of these spots watching the fireworks, wandering around the funfairs and food stalls, and then finishing the night in a nearby cosy bar. You're welcome.

When? Saturday 5th December

This is arguably a unique opportunity to see (or better yet, join in with!) a mass of brilliant people running around Covent Garden dressed as giant puddings. It is bound to be a hilarious and fun day out, simultaneously raising money for Cancer Research UK. It's not just a simple race, as there are lots of fun obstacles and activites along the way! If you want to register a team to join in the shenanigans, just click the link above.

When? Saturday 20th November til Sunday 3rd January

If you haven't been to Winter Wonderland yet, you must either be a fresher who's new to London or completely insane. Yes it's cliché, yes it's packed, and yes you'll inevitably have to push past several PDA-ing couples, but you simply have to go! The in-your-face lights and giant novelty prizes create an atmosphere like no other, while the Bavarian-style markets are full of cute gifts. And then there are the food stalls where you can gorge on pulled pork, hot dogs, and (my favourite) chimney cake until you burst. Just remember to go on the rides beforehand!
